Home decor // shabby chic & more

We moved into our first house February which means i could decorate our whole house with my style! Which is awesome. I love all old, vintage, shabby chic with retro pops of colour here and there. I also love the country house with showing beams style cottages so i'm trying to incorporate all that into our house.

These accessories which hang on the wall are downstairs in my kitchen and living room, i got them from a garden centre in Sharlston and they where pretty cheap around £5.99-£11.99 each.

Our fireplace before was an awful cream colour with half of the paint missing and the stone underneath showing it was awful. So we got a matte grey paint from Wilkinsons to paint this and it really gave it a Gothic feel and it shows every little pattern on it and makes it really stand out. I thought it made the house a little dark so i got some sand paper and scrubbed away the paint on the edges which gave it a shabby feel. The only thing i hate is the cream marble and the gold fire. Where hoping to get rid of the fireplace though at some point.

On our window we have some gorgeous daffodils which have blossomed perfectly and really make our home look like springs hit!

At the bottom and top of our stairs we have these blinds from IKEA which came in a purple shade too. We had to cut them to size but that was pretty simple.

The item on the right was a gift given to us which is at the bottom of the stairs as soon as you walk in the door which is welcoming as people can read it straight away and it gives them a happy vibe.

When you come up the stairs we have this on our wall which was from EBAY and only cost £10 the only bad thing was each word is a sticker so i had to make sure it was in line and straight, it took me ages to get it right and i'm still not 100% happy with the position of it now.

The frame below was a gift i created for fathers day 2014, i got the frame from EBAY and i tide some ribbon to the back of it to be able to hang it up on the wall above the stairs. I ordered a letter D,A,Y and painted them pink with a paint sample pot which was from B&Q. The letters where from EBAY as well.

Once they where painted i got Ava into a lovely outfit and took some photos with her holding them and once i printed them out i could get them in the spelling order of DADDY.

It was so simple and cheap to do and would make a perfect fathers day/birthday gift.

This is some decor i have in the bathroom just to jazz it up, the bathroom is no where near complete yet and were hoping to rip it all out and tile it and have a freestanding bath. These things take time and money though so it has to wait.

The flowers where from my old bedroom in the house which i lived with my parents. I got most of their furniture so i added extra bits to make it my own.
They where from Wilkinsons and the blind was custom made from a curtain shop in Normanton. The little hanging slate on the right is hung just above the loo! A great little pop of comedy when you go for a wee, that was from ASDA.

Moving on into the bedrooms, we have 3 but the spare room which is the smallest is just a junk room as the moment so there isn't much decorations in there. Apart from wallpaper we managed to put up.

A couple of touches in our daughters bedroom have been handmade by me. I created them in my parents house. The mobile i made when i was pregnant with lots of beads from broken bracelets and some ribbon, garden canes and paper birds which i made. I got the idea from Pinterest.

The canvas on the left was bought from Wilkinsons and the paint was washable kids crayola paint which i just brushes on Avas feet when she was a baby, they smudged a little but still turned out great.

Some decor in our bedroom as an old HOME accessories holder which i hang jewelry on which is attached to our wardrobe at the side so Ava cant touch. Cant remember where that was from but you can get stuff like that from all over to hang items on.

On our bedroom window i like to add lots of little bits and bobs even if they dont match it all comes together. We have a Lily plant, some glass bottles from IKEA, they where super cheap. Some artificial flowers from EBAY, a scan picture of Ava at our 21 week scan which we've had since i was pregnant. The frame was from Wilkinsons which is gorgeous. I've added a candle burner which i got for a birthday present and a oil diffuser which was also a gift.

Also to the right of the window we have an old Amethyst rock and a crystal cat which I've had since a child.
