Ava's Summer Clothes Haul

I do apologize for not writing a blog post in months! I just really haven't had time or motivation to do it. I nearly gave it all together but I've decided to give it another go. I think the main thing is i need a better camera etc which will make me want to do it. Fingers crossed ill be getting one soon and i can stop using my iphone as a blog camera.

Over the past few weeks I've been doing a lot of shopping online and in stores for my daughters 'summer wardrobe' plus all of her old clothes were size 12-18 and shes growing so quickly and is now into 18-24. Some are quite large but i wasn't going to buy a smaller size as shes 21 months old now so i'm just going with the age.

Mini Mothercare haul

Okay so i've been absent for a little while on here as i'm finding it really hard to have spare time to write anything and take pictures etc. Avas now getting older and needing more and more attention and shes now having shorter naps and sometimes not even any naps through the day. I thought id have time but i'm really struggling to find space in my day to do a blog post. Also i've been feeling really exhausted and i've had no energy to even think about what to do next on here. But i'm finally doing a little one as promised.

I recently went to Mothercare to get a few things, we really needed to get Ava some summer shoes as we went to Clarks and they was quite disappointing. The shoes she got sized for was way too big and she was tripping up all the time in them so we took them back and got her sized in Mothercare Clarks and she was a whole 1/2 size wrong. So in the end we just ended up getting some pretty sandals from the Mothercare store and leaving Clarks.

These sandals are half price of some shoes from Clarks and they fit her perfectly and don't rub her and she never trips in them.

Priced at £11.99

Maybelline Color Tattoos 24 hour!

These are another little revisit for me, I don't usually use cream eyeshadows as i find they crease loads on my lids but with a eyelid primer they work quite well. I had 3 colours so far, Immortal charcoal, Metallic pomegranate and On and on bronze. The colour pigment isn't that great to be honest when applying on the lid it goes on really nice but once blended out with a Mac 217 it goes quite see threw on the lid, a sheer blend of eyeshadow. Super easy to blend though.

These eye shadows have had a lot of hype and i just don't see why, they're not that great and they definitely do not last all day never mind '24 hours' but who wears make up for 24 hours anyway.

A little Primark haul

I recently did a trip to Primark and bought myself some essential items. The shop i went to was in Wakefield which they have just extended and now is massive but unorganized. I use to love primark when i was younger but then i started to hate it as i got older because of all the hassle of bumping into people and juggling through all the clothes to find your size then trying them on. Plus i found all the prices had risen. But I've wanted to recently try it out again as i was seeing look books with certain clothing from there. Especially the high waist jeans which i have been dieing for!

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers

Rimmel lip lacquers (Apocalips) came out a while ago but i didn't see much on them in the blogging world and think they need talking about! they are the perfect lip product for spring summer but have an amazing range of colour's that are suitable more for the winter months too. They are super creamy but the colour pigment is speechless for such a creamy lip product! These are similar to a lip gloss in texture but have really good staying power!

You may still be able to buy them today in Boots at only £6.49 (Rimmel are on offer now) buy one get the second half price. (out of stock online)

How i curl my hair with straighteners

I curl my hair quite often, i think it frames my face better than it being straight. Other than that its usually up in a bun. I always use straighteners to curl my hair as i find them a lot easier than doing it with a curler, i usually burn my fingers with a curler or end up with one side being perfect and the other side being odd. It usually takes me around 15-20 minutes to curl all my hair and i have pretty long hair.

So once I've washed my hair i usually towel dry it a little i then spray the got2b heat protection in my hair and usually some kiddies detangle spray which smells like pear! its so amazingg! I then brush my hair threw with the tangle teezer and dry the rest of my hair with a hairdryer and then brush it through once again with the tangle teezer.

Weaning, when & how? and things i cook & use!

As Ava was approaching the 6 month mark i was getting myself prepared for starting her on solids. We had just moved into our own house which was perfect timing and i went out and bought a steamer as i knew i wanted to do all home made food and not use jars. Even though i don't eat many vegetables myself i still wanted to cook the best for Ava. I hadn't cooked proper meals in my whole life as id lived with my parents, so i had to learn from scratch. Obviously i knew how to use a microwave etc but cooking meat etc was all new for me.

So i went out and bought a few cooking books which have helped me so much and i still use them today. The books are by Annabel Karmel and id recommend them to anyone who's going to start weaning. I started off using the Top 100 baby purees and Baby and toddler meal planner as meals start from 6 months old in those ones. The baby and toddler meal planner was brilliant as it had a guide on day to day, week by week on what to feed your baby and how many meals a day to feed them.

Revlon colorburst lip butters

Revlon ColorBurst lip butters are back with more shades! Avalible at Boots at £7.99 each (buy 1 get the 2nd half price) and at Beauty Outlets!

Revlon lip butters came out a while back and the world went crazy for them. You don't hear about them much now but they are perfect for keeping the lip moisturized and feeling creamy but giving a gorgeous layer of colour to the lips at the same time. They are like a tinted lip balm, i just wish they smelt like they are named. I still use these today!
They come in a simple packaging but each one is the colour of the lip butter product which is fab so you don't have to look at the bottom of the product to discover what shade it is.

Foundation Revisit // Mac Studio Sculpt

The Mac studio sculpt foundation was the first high end product i bought about a year back, i know it needs throwing away. But I've finally just used the last of it today. It was running really low and i just didn't use it for a while but i decided to try it out again. I now remember why i bought this foundation in the first place, i hadn't really heard a lot about mac foundations through youtube channels and blogs but i had heard a lot about their other products such as brushes, eye shadows. I went to the stall in debenhams and said i basically have dry skin but i suffer from acne so i need good coverage and they recommended the studio sculpt foundation. They matched me up to NC15 which was the palest shade and it really does match up well. In the summer i just add some bronzer to match me if i get a tan, which is very rare as i hate sunbathing.

My nail polish collection! // Barry M and More..

I've been collecting nail polishes since i was about 18 when i really started to get addicted to them. Especially the brand Barry M. I use to bite my nails really short so i couldn't paint them when i was younger, but since i started growing them painting was a thing that needed to be done. I still bite my fingers which doesn't make them look nice but adding some nail polish on them stops me wanting to bite them. I think biting them is just a habit and an anxiety thing. A lot of these nail polishes are quite old and need throwing away so i put most of the ones i don't use in the left tray and the newest ones in the right tray.

Home decor // Storage

These are some of our home storage ideas we came up with to make things a little easier and to be able to keep things in place without looking a mess. Id still love some extra storage furniture in my house but its just the cost, so it just has to go onto the list of to do things which is a very big list at the moment.

The farmers market 'key/letter holder' is from i think the Gift Company in junction 32 they sell lots of quirky little items like this and furniture too. This was £12.99 and as you can see we hang pretty much anything we can on there as one of the hooks has broken. Oops!

The shelf is from Ikea which i bought last year it was super easy to put up and was really cheap, they did them in different sizes too. I keep all Avas books on there which is a bad idea as there is a sofa underneath which she climbs onto to reach the books. It will be getting changed once we change the living room around.

Home decor // shabby chic & more

We moved into our first house February which means i could decorate our whole house with my style! Which is awesome. I love all old, vintage, shabby chic with retro pops of colour here and there. I also love the country house with showing beams style cottages so i'm trying to incorporate all that into our house.

These accessories which hang on the wall are downstairs in my kitchen and living room, i got them from a garden centre in Sharlston and they where pretty cheap around £5.99-£11.99 each.

Day at the farm!

This post is a little late up but I've been trying to enjoy the sunshine as long as possible and play outside with my little girl and her daddy as we haven't really been doing that because of the terrible weather and my partner working so we try to spend as much family time together as we can, whilst we can.

Monday after Easter we took our little girl to Farmer Copleys which was fabulous. Its the first time taking her to a farm and the first time we had ever been there. What a beautiful place! .. plus it was FREE!

Easter Sunday // What we did?

Our Easter Sunday was amazing, last year we didn't really do much as Ava was too young to really understand. She couldn't eat loads of chocolate and get creative. So this year was much more fun! plus her daddy wasn't working which made it 10 times better as we could have a family day too.

First on Saturday night i set up all Ava's Easter eggs and gifts on the sofa so when she woke up Sunday morning she could see all what shes got.

She got mostly chocolate eggs, The dolly was from http://www.mrshhandmadeandmore.bigcartel.com i totally recommend them, the dolls are great and most of them you can create yourself and add more items to. She also got a Frozen football, some pretend make up and a story book with a little dolly.

A few items I've been trying out // Real techniques, Revolution, Dolly's mixtures

Real techniques Sponge

So I've recently been trying out this real techniques sponge as I've been hearing a lot of good things about it. I wanted to give something else a go rather than using brushes all the time. I can use this sponge to apply my foundation, concealer and powder under the eyes which is great as i don't need loads of different brushes. I can use the pointed end for under my eyes and the sponge for my face and the flat part for around my nose. I haven't used the sponge dry yet, i just spray some of my hydrating face mist onto the sponge and start dabbing away. I really love the natural finish it gives on my skin. No lines anywhere! (which you can get from a brush). The other great thing is that its only £5.99.

Whats in my Storksak Caroline Nylon changing bag

I got this changing bag bought for my 21st birthday in January 2014 so I've had it for just over a year. The first bag i had was a OIOI in yellow but as it was yellow and coming to winter i didn't like it anymore so i wanted a black bag that was a good all rounder.

Obviously things I've needed in my bag have changed slightly since Ava's got older. But everything has always fitted, as its quite large and spacious.

These are the things i need in my bag on a daily basis apart from the odd thing will change so if we go somewhere late on ill take along with us some pj's and a cup for her bedtime milk and her milk carton. Also things change when seasons change as i wont need to carry any gloves around in the summer etc. Also my keys and phone go in my bag too.

My pregnancy fashion // when i felt most confident

Whilst i was pregnant i felt so confident in my figure as my belly was growing as that's only where the weight went just on my bump and boobs. I could wear dresses and skirts and feel great! My pregnancy was also through the summer which made it 10 times better.

I worked 5 days out of the week so mostly i wore black and white but on my days off i managed to wear some colour.
The outfit on the right was from h&m and select and i also had pale green sandals on.

My acne skincare routine

My skin has never been great! i always remember suffering from acne since highschool, probably since i started wearing makeup. I just remember it didn't use to be as bad as what it is now. Whilst i was pregnant my skin was amazing, i just wish my skin would of stayed that way afterwards! Also i have to admit my diet is really appalling which i know will effect my skin..

Every morning i wake up and i cleanse my face with loreal skin perfection micellar water with a cotton wool pad. I also take my make up off with this on a night, If i don't use the micellar water i will just use a clean & clear truly gentle 3 in 1 facial wipe. After i cleanse my face i then just moisturize using E45 cream which was recommended from my doctors as my skin is really dry from the products i use for my acne. I moisturize every morning and night.

Once every couple of days i exfoliate my skin and use a face mask to try calm my spots down, i don't do this too often as my skin is really dry. I'm not going to lie i don't wash my face everyday as i just use a cleanser.

These are the exfoliating and face mask products i use. I first the garnier pure active charcoal is the best for my skin, I love the way it leaves your skin feeling soft after I've used it. It has tiny hard pieces in the gel which gets rid of all the dead skin on my face. I do try a lot of products for my skin but i'm trying to limit the amount of different ones i use and try settle down on just a couple.

What makeup i had on today! - Drugstore/highstreet products!

So i'm slightly obsessed with drugstore/highstreet makeup in general, especially once i started my first paid job i was straight off to superdrug/boots every pay day. But not everyday i wear make up as i love the feeling of my skin being able to breathe or sometimes i'm just lazy and cant be bothered to wear it. Whenever i get to wear make up its usually a rushed job of putting it on as I've got a little one running around grabbing my bronzer and smashing it up all over the carpet or her face. If i'm going out i have to put some makeup on as my skins quite bad with acne and dark circles. I don't have the confidence to go outside without any as i'm scared people will stare. I'll not get too much into my skin as i will do a separate post all about that and what products i use.

This is the makeup i put on my face today, usually the same routine everyday or ill add a little eyeshadow. Just depends what i'm doing or where i'm going. I only use drugstore/highstreet items as i just cant come round to spending more than £20 on one product. Fair enough if i could find the right item and stick to it but it never works out like that for me. The most I've spent is £23 on a MAC studio sculpt foundation, which i loved apart from it was really thick high coverage foundation and didn't let my skin breathe!

My breastfeeding story! (blocked duct - septicaemia)

As soon as i found out i was pregnant i knew i wanted to breastfeed, knowing it was going to be best for my child. I started going to classes at my mother and toddler group to learn more about birth etc and a lot of pressure was on to breastfeed our babies when their born. Learning the facts of breast milk being better than formula i was so determined to do it.

On the 8th of September, 6 days before my due date i gave birth to my little girl in hospital. She was born natural vaginal birth, i had to be stitched up for a good hour so i couldn't move much and being a first time mummy i didn't have a clue what to expect or do. Once i was all sorted and washed the midwife asked if i wanted to try get her to latch. I struggled right from the start, it just wasn't happening. At one point it seemed like she had latched on but only for a few seconds and she was back off. We left it for a bit and i just tried again. This continued for a few hours. The midwife then suggested to squeeze my boob so the milk came out and put it on a little spoon such as a clean medicine spoon or a little measuring cup. So when i got home i had to do that to make sure she was getting something. I still kept on trying to get her to latch and i felt really disappointed in myself for it not going the way i expected.

After the first day we had breastfeeding experts come over and midwifes, they showed me certain positions i could do to try get her to latch on. I struggled to move as i was so uncomfortable since being stitched but i did some positions like they said and it still wasn't happening, she wouldn't latch. The midwife then weighed her a few days after she was born and she had gone from 6.9 pounds to 5.10 pounds which was under what their allowed to loose which made me feel so bad. My partner came up with 'what about formula'. I knew i didn't want to use formula and that there had to be another way. A midwife suggested a breast pump so my partner went out that same day and bought a manual Philips Avent breast pump and some bottles. As long as she was getting the breast milk it didn't really matter if it was from my boob or a teat. It worked a dream! except for my nipples being sore and my boobs engorging and being like rocks i was producing milk. The midwife said 'i could get you a electric pump to lend for a month', which that sounded bliss as i didn't have to manually do it as it hurt my hands. The electric pump worked amazing and my daughter was putting lots of weight on so i was super happy.

After about 4 weeks of using the pump i noticed i wasn't producing loads of milk like i thought i should, so i started taking some herbal supplements to help my milk supply build up. It didn't seem to be doing much. The health visitor then came around to suggest why not try getting my baby to latch on my breast again after 4 weeks of being on the bottle. So i did which was the worst decision i had ever made.

At around 4 1/2 weeks of my daughter having breast milk, mid October time i noticed my left boob starting to really hurt, It was aching and i knew something wasn't right straight away. I went to the doctors to explain and he say nothing was wrong and there was no point giving me any tablets for infection as there wasn't any infection yet. So i went home, trying to pump was feeling impossible no milk was coming out of my left breast at all and it was going really inflamed and hard. I went back to the doctors the day after and got some mastitis tablets and took them for a day, But then it was too late the pain was unbearable! I rang my partner to tell him i need to go to a walk in doctors as it was Saturday and my doctors wasn't open. As soon as i went into the doctors and took my bra off my boob was bright red! i had never seen anything like it, he said i needed to be cheeky and go to A&E!

All i can say is thank god i did, i waited in the a&e room for about 1 hour and i started shivering feeling really uncomfortable and delirious and even started to cry. I felt like i needed to hold my boob up as well. Finally i moved into another room to be seen by a doctor which i was waiting another 30 minutes. Then the doctor finally took me into his room and basically said you need to have a operation as you've got a cyst in your left boob. He said the surgeon was going to come up in the next 4 hours as i had taken some paracetamol and they needed to be out off my system. I burst out crying again and i just remember saying I've let my daughter down with breastfeeding and that i was scared of my cyst exploding inside me. Within the next 20 minutes a surgeon came up and told me to put a gown on and that's it i was off and rushed down to theater. They couldn't put me to sleep straight away as my blood pressure was all over the place and they needed to calm me down i was holding onto a ladies hand and she was talking to me about my daughter and how old she was and she asked 'are you cold' as i was shivering and i said 'no, just nervous' which they couldn't understand. Once i had the operation and came around from the anesthetic i was on a ward to which i had water in a bag rushing through my veins. Most of it was a blur apart from that night trying to get blood from me for tests and saying i might need to go to ICU. That night i thought i was a goner. The next morning the nurse came to me as my mum, dad, partner and baby girl was sat around saying 'you worried us all last night'. But i came fighting back. I had some dinner and felt alright, i managed to get out of bed and sit at the side and a doctor came around telling me i had 'Septicemia' (blood poisoning) from the infection i had. Wow, that was a shock to hear. All i kept thinking is if i had left it another day i might not be hear today. But i am and that's the main thing, once i came out of hospital i felt so much better straight away. Apart from having to have the hole in my boob packed every day then every week EWW! But after a few month around November/December time i didn't have to have it done anymore and it could heal by itself. I was so happy that i could get back to normal life again and start to enjoy my baby girl again.

This has been quite emotional to write about especially trying to remember every detail what happened. I'm just very thankful for the hospital that saw me and for having an amazing family to help me.

But in the end even though this happened to me i will attempt to breastfeed when i have another child, i just will know if my baby doesn't latch on straight away and it doesn't work out not to worry about it. Just go with the flow. I ended up using formula in the end and my daughter is just as healthy now. Formula or breast milk, as long as your child is putting on weight and doing great that's all that matters. It's whatever works for you.

My hair colour story

After seeing all these images you'll think how do i have any hair left? I've been through that many hair dyes and done most of them myself at home.
I've always had long hair and whenever i get it cut short i want to grow it back long again.

My hair has always been long since a young child.

I always remember, my mum just use to snip the dead ends off at home in front of a wardrobe mirror.

I first got it professionally cut at the hairdressers just below my shoulders, i remember them always asking me if i wanted to take my hair home in a bag to make my dad a wig (he's bald)

Starting off blogging, Why? What?

Why?

For some people out there you will understand what it is like to look after a young child. I have a beautiful 18 month old daughter who keeps me busy through out the day. But after all i am still an ordinary 22 year old who has a passion for beauty, fashion and photography. Just like the majority of people out there i am also on a budget reviewing everyday things we all can afford and can buy without worrying about breaking the bank. Honestly, about me I have very little confidence in my self, i find even the littlest things troubling such as making a phone call. So to gain confidence I am starting a blog and 'hoping' to start a YouTube channel.

What?

What will i be writing about and taking photos of?
I want to write about so many things, pretty much about everything in my life.
Ill blog about my family, beauty, me, life.
I'm not rich, I'm not popular, I'm not perfect. I'm just me an ordinary girl who lives in West Yorkshire. I want to blog about affordable beauty items that i buy from drugstore/highstreet. I want to write and take photographs of my gorgeous daughter Ava and my partner Jordan. There my life. I want to vlog eventually and put videos on YouTube. I want to show you my baking and cooking and photography skills. I want to talk about my confidence, as i don't have much of it. I want people to advise me what to talk about and review?
I'll also be sharing things about my personal life and struggles I've been through.

So that's a little bit of information on what ill be writing about and why i'm starting off. Enjoy!

10 facts about me
